*Job Description*  Job Title: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor -
Data Science  Job ID: 10668  Department: Computer Science, Sociology and
Economics  Location: Queens College*CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION*
Queens College seeks an established or emerging researcher in the area of
data science with significant research experience in applying and
developing data science to address problems arising in the fields of
population, demography, economics, linguistics, sociology, or other areas.
An established research agenda with substantial outside funding support or
a potential for such funding is highly desirable.  Competitive emerging
researchers will demonstrate a clear research agenda and high potential for
career growth.  The successful applicant will be placed in the appropriate
department by mutual agreement.  This position is part of the CUNY-wide
cyber infrastructure initiative.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, master's level, and
Ph.D. level courses and engage in research.  This will enhance and build
the program in data science in cooperation with Computer Science and the
program in Applied Social Research currently based in the Sociology
department.

Computer Science, Sociology, and Economics represent three of the largest
and strongest departments with respect to research and teaching at Queens
College.  The departments offer campus based B.A. and M.A. programs and
members of the faculty are involved with Ph.D. programs at the CUNY
Graduate Center, and it is expected that the successful candidate will
receive an appointment to a relevant program there, as well.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
Ph.D. with significant research experience in applying or doing research in
the area of data science and 'big data' related to problems arising in the
fields of population, demography, linguistics, economics, sociology, or
other areas.  According to experience the candidate should present either
1) an established research agenda with substantial outside funding support
OR 2) a clear research agenda with a high potential for outside funding.
