*The University of Maryland, Baltimore is currently seeking a Director, in
the School of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Health Services Research Department.
The selected candidate will direct the daily operations of the
Pharmaceutical Research Computing Center (PRC), management of its technical
staff and its viability as a recharge center.*

*TITLE:*   Director of Pharmaceutical Research Computing Center,
Pharmaceutical Health Services Research

*JOB SUMMARY:*  Directs daily operations of the Pharmaceutical Research
Computing (PRC) Center, management of its technical staff, and its
viability as a recharge center.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*

[image: *]       Maintain established procedures concerning quality
assurance, especially in the area of data analysis, security of data and
documentation of work.

[image: *]       Responsible for assisting in the development of project
estimates, budget evaluation and management of multiple projects.

[image: *]       Implement and coordinate program changes in accordance
with policies and procedures to improve productivity and customer service.

[image: *]       Interact with key partners and stakeholders within UMB and
external research community.

[image: *]       Lead performance improvement processes related to data
analysis and deliverables.

[image: *]       Consult with and advise investigators and clients
regarding study design, methodology and operationalizing concepts using
selected database(s).

[image: *]       Responsible for developing and motivating programmers and
other staff involved in projects to accomplish objectives and goals.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

[image: *]       PharmD with 5 years research experience or PhD in
Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Public Health or related field.

[image: *]       2 years of experience at a management/leadership level
preferred.

*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:*

Knowledge of pharmacoepidemiology, health services research, methodology,
study design, descriptive & inferential statistics, and biomedical sciences.

[image: *]       Knowledge of appropriate drug therapies in the management
of diseases preferred.

[image: *]       Knowledge of relevant accreditation, certification and
documentation of requirements on an annual basis (e.g., HIPAA, data use
agreement).

[image: *]       Experience working with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9 diagnosis codes
and National Drug Codes.

[image: *]       Experience with large administrative claims databases
including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial and other secondary databases.

[image: *]       Ability to establish goals, structures and processes
necessary to implement a project.

[image: *]       Basic knowledge of SAS, including DATA and PROC steps.

[image: *]       Leadership, coaching and teambuilding skills needed to
strengthen and cultivate relationships.

[image: *]       Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects.

[image: *]       Oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal
skills.
