Family life courses and later life health in Europe

Research Officer From £32,469 to £39,276 per annum inclusive
Fixed-term from January 2014 until March 2018.

Research Assistant: From £26,846 to £31,074 per annum inclusive
Fixed-term for 42 months from early 2014

We are seeking two enthusiastic researchers with strong quantitative skills to
workon an exciting project on Family life courses and later life health in Europe
funded by a European Research Council award to Professor Emily Grundy.The persons
appointed will analyse large cross national and national data sets and, with other
team members, prepare or contribute to journal articles and conference
presentations.

Candidates for the Research Officer post should have completed or nearly completed a
PhD in demography, other quantitative social science, epidemiology or related field;
have demonstrated competence in the advanced statistical analysis of large scale
longitudinal data sets, a track record of contribution to publications, preferably
peer reviewed journal articles, and an interest in ageing, life course influences on
health in later life or family demography and health.

Candidates for the Research Assistant post should have a postgraduate qualification
in a quantitative social science or health related field, demonstrated competence in
the statistical analysis of large data sets and experience of undertaking literature
searches. A methodical approach to documenting work is essential and experience of
contributing to publications is preferred.

Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team and a commitment to
developing new skills are required for both positions.
