Subject: Job Opening - Postdoc Research Fellows at MPIDR (Germany)

Postdoctoral Research Fellows at MPIDR (Rostock, Germany)

Deadline to apply: 22 April 2013.

The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR), Rostock (Germany) is seeking to
recruit Postdoctoral Research Fellows to work in a research group within MPIDR directed by
Prof. Dr. Frans Willekens. The new group will start on 1 April 2013 for an expected duration
of three years and its work will focus on agent-based modeling (ABM) of international
migration. The objective is to develop simulation models of causal mechanisms driving
international migration. How do migration patterns emerge? Which feedback mechanisms give
rise to migration systems?

Scientific projects could include topics like the estimation of agent-based models of
emigration decision and destination choice processes from survey data, agent-based modeling
of migration flows between EU Member States, or an agent-based model for population
projection by migration history. Interest in international migration with proven expertise in
empirical research and modeling with R, as well as in theories of migration will be helpful.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. Applications should include a letter outlining your
research agenda in the upcoming two years, a CV including information about your education, a
list of publications, and the contact details of 3 persons who can be contacted for
references.

Please send all materials to Prof. Dr. Frans Willekens at: migrationabm at demogr.mpg.de
