Applications are invited from those with commitment to excellence in
research and teaching.

The lecturer will contribute to the teaching of both undergraduate and
postgraduate students in social statistics and/or demography, coordinate and
develop existing and new teaching modules, contribute to the supervision of
postgraduate students, and carry out administrative duties within the
Division and the Academic Unit of Social Sciences. You will also engage in
advanced study or research, including the publication of research results in
peer-reviewed international journals, and seek research funding.

You will have experience in any aspect of demography or social statistics,
but preference may be given to candidates who can contribute to the teaching
of advanced demographic methods, particularly the analysis of mortality. You
will have (or be shortly to obtain) a PhD or equivalent level qualification
in demography or statistics or in a relevant subject area and be able to
satisfy all the essential criteria detailed in the job description.

The Division of Social Statistics and Demography at Southampton has world
class research expertise in survey methodology, official statistics,
statistical modelling, demography and social policy, and takes a strategic
role in the development and promotion of the use of quantitative methods in
the social sciences. You will be expected to demonstrate expertise in one or
more of these areas. The members of the Division contribute significantly to
the research activities at the Statistical Sciences Research Institute, the
ESRC funded Centre for Population Change and National Centre for Research
Methods, and Centre for Global Health, Population, Poverty & Policy. Details
