The non-profit Kaiser Permanente Division of Research conducts independent, externally funded, health
services research to improve health and health care of Kaiser Permanente members and society at large

20-40 hours/week
Job Description
Under close supervision, this position exists to internally manage and report data for health services
research projects, largely funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), or non-profit foundations.
This position functions both as an analyst and as a SAS/STATA programmer.
* Write SAS/STATA programs to extract, manipulate and assemble data for study projects, many with
large datasets from electronic health records
* Analyze data to produce results for publication in peer-reviewed journals
* Participate in developing analytic plans and interpreting analyses
Specific health services research areas include
* Health information technology
* Quality of chronic disease care
* Preventive health care
* Health insurance benefit design and patient cost-sharing
* Medicare
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate level coursework in biostatistics statistics or related field
required.
Job Qualifications
* At least one year programming in SAS required:
+ Experience with statistical procedures, macros, and SAS/GRAPH
+ Experience with SQL preferred
* Experience using various statistical methods required
* Experience with large databases preferred
* Experience with longitudinal data analysis preferred
* Experience with STATA preferred
* Ability to work independently and with a team
* Ability to take initiative in resolving programming, analytical, and epidemiological questions
* Experience in a research/health care environment with knowledge of medical practice and ambulatory
care delivery preferred
