THE INFORMATION SESSION

Mr. Dunn will give a presentation on the work of Mathematica, their areas
of specialty, and opportunities around the country for Bachelors, Masters
and PhD level students.



Students at all levels of Public Policy and Economics are highly
encouraged to attend.



MPR also hires degree holders in Education, Political Science, Sociology,
Demographics, Statistics, Pubic Health and Social Welfare. Students in
these areas with strong research experience and skills are also welcome
to attend.



THE PRESENTER

Adam Dunn is a recent 2011 MPP graduate of the Goldman School, and a
Research Analyst at Mathematica. He is currently working on an analysis
of the use of econometric models for teacher performance evaluation and
outcomes associated with  responsible fatherhood and healthy marriage
services for low-income fathers.



THE ORGANIZATION

Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) is a nationally recognized, nonpartisan
firm that conducts social policy research across an expanding series of
critical policy areas. These areas include traditional policy fields such
as education, health, labor, and family and social policy, as well as a
growing list of more specialized fields such as obesity and nutrition,
early childhood development, health information technology, and
international policy. MPR’s mission is to improve public well-being by
bringing the highest standards of quality, objectivity, and excellence to
bear in our work for our clients which include federal, state, and local

OPPORTUNITIES (see the attached document for more information on position
types)

-          There are no applications deadlines listed on the website for
any of the above Fulltime positions, but they are expected to by the end
of January. Those interested should plan to apply in early January 2012
for best consideration.

-          All applications require: resume, cover letter, graduate and
undergraduate transcripts (unofficial are acceptable), writing sample,
and contact information for three references.

-          All of the below  positions are hiring in Princeton, NJ,
Washington, DC, Cambridge, MA, Ann Arbor, MI, and Oakland, CA offices.



PhD Opportunities: MPR is currently collecting applications from PhD
candidates for their “Researcher” positions. Researcher recruitment kicks
off w/ the AEA conference (1st round of on-site interviews are based off
of the interviews conducted at the conference) and that occurs in early
January.  It’s best to apply for that position in January.

Summer Research Fellowships:  There are a limited number of summer
research fellowships available for PhD and Masters level students.
Students apply with a research proposal and selected fellows are matched
with Mathematica staff. Fellows can be located at any Mathematica office,
as long as staff in a given office have experience on their proposal
topic. Apply by Friday March 16th 2012.



Masters Opportunities: Students graduating in May 2012 should prepare to
submit applications to “Research Analyst” positions during the month of
