DATA MANAGER
LUCILE PACKARD FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN'S HEALTH

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health invites applications for
the position of Data Manager.

Established in 1996, the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity whose
mission is to elevate the priority of children's health and increase the
quality and accessibility of children's health care through leadership and
direct investment. The Foundation fundraises for research, training, and
patient care at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, and for pediatric
programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine. The Foundation also
serves as a source of public information about the state of children's
health and pursues changes in the system of pediatric health care.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Manager will have primary responsibility for ensuring the quality,
rigor and comprehensiveness of data provided by the Foundation through its
kidsdata.org website and related data and information products. S/he will
play an integral role in helping to establish the Foundation's statewide
leadership in the realm of children's data, and will assist in outreach for
kidsdata.org and in efforts to promote the use of data to support
improvement in children's health. S/he will work with a high degree of
independence and will report to the Assistant Vice President, Programs and
Partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Data Manager will:
- Plan and manage data collection, and ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
of data;
- Assist in establishing a data development agenda for the Foundation's
work;
- Establish and manage working relationships with providers of key datasets
related to children;
- Promote Foundation data and information, including participation in
outreach, public presentations, and writing content for blogs,
e-newsletters, and other communications vehicles;
- Assist in developing and implementing the Foundation's strategy to use
data to improve children's health;
- Keep abreast of, and provide recommendations on, promising technologies or
methods for data acquisition and display;
- Provide statistical analysis, and advise on data issues for other
department projects, including surveys;
- Recruit and assist in supervising graduate student and/or Public Allies
interns;
- Provide timely, quality responses to data questions from kidsdata.org
users.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Master's degree in public health, public policy or related field;
- Minimum of five years professional experience post-graduate school;
experience managing website content preferred;
- Proven ability to manage large-scale data projects;
- Proven statistical and analytical ability; proficiency in SPSS or related
statistical software;
- Knowledgeable about national, state and local data sources;
- Knowledge of health and social issues that affect children;
- Proficiency in Excel;
- Self-starter with ability to work independently;
- Highest degree of attention to detail;
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Public speaking skills, and ability to represent the Foundation publicly;
- Genuine interest in improving health and well being of children.
