Faculty Position in Public Health Nutrition
The School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks a
distinguished scholar for a state-funded tenure track position at any level.
The position offers opportunities for collaboration within the School of Public
Health,
the Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Center for Weight and Health, and other
Berkeley
campus centers and departments. Areas of interest within public health
nutrition are
broad and include designing, implementing and evaluating community or school
-based
interventions, social marketing or health communication related to public
health
nutrition, environmental nutrition, agriculture and food systems, food and
nutrition
policy, economics of food and nutrition, nutrition related disease prevention
and
management, and nutritional epidemiology. In addition to leadership and a
vigorous
research program, the position requires the development and teaching of upper
division
and graduate level courses, advising and mentoring graduate students, and
service
contributions within and outside the university.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in nutrition, a biological or social
science,
medicine, epidemiology or other field of public health, teaching experience and
a
demonstrated record of excellence in public health nutrition research.
Nutrition science
background preferred. We are particularly interested in candidates who have
demonstrated
commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students,
and whose
research combines a focus on public health nutrition with the examination and
elimination of health disparities for communities of color and other minority
populations.
Salary: Depends upon individual qualifications.
Deadline: Applications are due December 1, 2010, but review of applications
begins
November 15, 2010, and early applications are encouraged.
