Ron and John,



We recently lost our compensation analyst to a job at the Berkeley campus, so 
we?re
looking for someone new.  The role entails analysis of compensation costs, 
benefits
costs, and non-salary cost increases, as well as more general work in support 
of the
State budget process.  The job does not entail extensive modeling, but plenty 
of applied
data analysis, coupled with the political nature of budget development, 
negotiation, and
management.

Hope you?re both well.  I spent Monday catching up with Arvind Jain, who took 
demography
courses as an undergrad back in the early 90s.  He?s now at the World Bank
