Subject: New RPS I and RPS II Exams
Please note the deadline for applications is December 12, 2008.
I was just informed that the State Personnel Board has listed two new exams
for state employment. These are for the positions of Research Program
Specialist I and Research Program Specialist II. The list that will be
generated will be used by four different departments in the State of
California. Since four departments are participating in this exam, there
may not be another exam for these positions for quite some time. The
participating departments are as follows.
Department of Health Care Services
Department of Public Health
CalPERS
Employment Development Department
Since attachments are often difficult to post, you can use the following
links if it will help.

Research Program Specialist II:

Also, when reviewing the attached announcements, applicants should note that
the examination will consist of the following.
"The examination will consist of a Supplemental Application weighted 100%.
Candidates who meet the requirements for admittance to the examination
(minimum qualifications) will be mailed a Supplemental Application designed
to elicit specific information regarding each candidate's education and
experience relevant to the
testing criteria. Responses to the Supplemental Application will be
competitively assessed based on pre-determined rating criteria."
This means that the applicants can be living anywhere and this will not
cause them to incur any travelling costs to take the exam because they will
be sent a questionnaire and merely need to complete the questionnaire
documenting their education and experience relevant to the criteria noted in
the exam questionniare.
To complete an application, applicants should review the attached
announcements and then obtain and complete the standard state application
form (Form STD.678).
HOW TO APPLY: To learn more about the job and testing arrangements, contact
the testing office shown below. Applications are available at
